The automatic pneumatic brake deceleration switch in Fig. 1 on the drawing provided is only intended for the function of the additional rear lights mounted behind the rear window of passenger cars. The brake deceleration switch is intended to prevent the additional rear lights switching on and off simultaneously with the other rear lights each time gentle braking occurs. The brake deceleration switch can be set in such a way that it only switches on and off in the event of quite severe, sudden braking. The switch can also be set in such a way that after very severe braking the additional rear lights continue to light up for seconds although the conventional rear lights have gone out a considerable period of time earlier. The brake deceleration switch is also provided at the head end with an automatic emergency switch (19) which has the function of switching on the four hazard lights in the event of a sudden impact (accident) etc., in order quickly to warn drivers travelling behind. <IMAGE>
