Carrier bound immunogenic determinants

A carrier-bound immunogenic material for eliciting a specific immunogenic response in living antibody-producing cells is prepared preferably by first stripping suitable bacterial particles of their natural immunogenic determinants and the bonding to the particles by covalent bonding reaction a desired immunogenic determinant, usually one which is foreign to the bacterial particles, containing immunogenic information which elicits the desired specific response. The product is used for immunising mammals (including humans) or domestic fowls, whether for protective immunisation or in order to produce specific antibody preparations, e.g. for diagnostic purposes.
