PURPOSE:To obtain a thin-film magnetic head which has superior electromagnetic conversion characteristics, by interposing an organic insulating film between an upper magnetic core and an inorganic insulating film for protection. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 21, a lower magnetic core 22, the 1st insulating layer 23, a coil conductor 24, the 2nd insulating layer 25, and an upper magnetic core 26 are formed by vapor deposition, etc. Then, polyimide resin is spin-coated and at certain temperatures, baking and photoetching are performed to form an orgainc insulating film 27. Further, Al2O3 is sputtered to form an organic insulating film 28. The connection terminal for the connection between the coil conductor 24 and the lead wire of an external circuit is formed and then machined to obtain a thin-film magnetic head. Thus, a reading voltage increases about 1.5time and a writing current increases about 0.7time as compared with a conventional head, thus, the thin-film magnetic head with excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics is obtained. |
