PURPOSE:To know the change in the concn. of hydrogen in sodium and to eliminate mis-judgement on water leakage by installing two measuring chambers having hydrogen diffusion membranes in a flow passage in series and comparing the degrees of vacuum with vacuum gages provided in both measuring chambers. CONSTITUTION:Part of sodium in a main system 9 is branched to a branch pipe 10 and is conducted to measuring chambers 1a, 1b. There are hydrogen diffusion membranes 2a, 2b made of thin nickel films in the chambers 1a, 1b, and the outer sides thereof are maintained in a high vacuum by means of a vacuum pump 4 through vacuum conduits 3a, 3b. The flow rates of the hydrogen permeating through the membranes 2a, 2b are measured respectively with vacuum gages 5a, 5b. When the concn. of hydrogen in the sodium increases on account of the generation of water leakage, this appears as a change in the concn. of hydrogen in the sodium in the membrane 2b with delay of a certain time from that in the membrane 2a, because the membranes 2a, 2b are apart by a certain distance along the flow direction of the sodium. The existence of a change in the concn. of hydrogen in the sodium is judged only when the readings of the gages 5a, 5b change with a constant time difference. |
