PURPOSE:To enable insert recording of good quality without adding a head anew by erasing already recorded signals by a prescribed magnetic head attached to a rotating drum at the time of insert recording. CONSTITUTION:Special reproducing heads III, IV made of steel etc. are installed along with ordinary reproducing headsI, II in a rotating drum 1. Heads III, IV are attached to the drum 1 with a gap of (h) satisfying an equation h=T.x/pi in the direction of width of the track for each of headsI, II. These heads III, IV are used as flying erase heads at the time of insert recording, and recorded video signals are erased. Then, the insert recording that continues nicely to existing record is performed by headsI, II, on a track (1+x/pi) times as long as the length of a track. Accordingly, the insert recording of good quality is effected without adding a new head. (T denotes track pitch, x denotes preceding fitting angle of heads III, IV to headsI, II respectively.) |
