MAGNETIC HEAD DEVICE

PURPOSE:To perform azimuth recording on a rotary head system, by installing main magnetic poles on a rotatable cylinder at different angles. CONSTITUTION:Main magnetic poles 15-1-15-4 are installed with track width directions at right angles to the turning direction of a cylinder; and main magnetic poles slant at an angle (+a) and main magnetic poles 15-2 and 15-4 slant at an angle (-a). The cylinder-facing surface of an auxiliary magnetic pole 16 is made into a cylindrical surface concentric with the cylinder 19 so that the main magnetic poles and auxiliary magnetic pole have an equal interval. A magnetic recording medium 1 is driven in the rotating-shaft direction 20 of the cylinder. The main magnetic poles 15-1-15-4 on the cylinder 19 couple with the auxiliary magnetic pole 16 to perform the best recording to the vertical recording medium 1. The cylinder 19 is rotated at a high speed to obtain a high relative head-medium speed without reference to the speed of the medium 1. Thus, azimuth recording is carried out.
