PURPOSE:To have stable operating condition by exhausting the sealing water out of the sealing water flowing space during the blower in standby, retaining the inside in dry condition using a substitute gas, and thereby preventing rust and corrosion of the shaft sealing part likely to arise during standby. CONSTITUTION:For putting the blower 12 in standby condition, No.1 and No.2 opening and closing valves 16, 17 are closed after the blower is stopped, and then a drain valve 21 is opened. Then the sealing water in the sealing water flowing space 10 and pipings 15 connected therewith is exhausted into a drain pot 23 through a drain pipe 22. If a substitute gas supply valve 18 is opened with this condition held, nitrogen gas etc. flows into the sealing water flowing space 10 to be then drained together with the residual water from the drain pipe 22, and flow-through of this nitrogen gas etc. will dry up the sealing water flowing space fully. Thereby, rust and corrosion likely to arise at the shaft sealing part during standby is prevented to provide a stable operating condition without risk of damage to the shaft sealing part when the blower is to be started again. Thus the reliability of blower is enhanced. |
