NEW MATERIAL:The esterified product of sterol and lactic acid or carboxylic acid obtained by the intermolecular oligoesterification of lactic acid of formula (n is 0 or integer of >=1). EXAMPLE:Cholesteryl lactate. USE:Raw material of cosmetics and external remedy. PROCESS:For example, lactic acid or a carboxylic acid of formula obtained by the intermolecular oligoesterification of lactic acid is charged together with a sterol (e.g. cholesterol) in a reactor, mixed with tin chloride, etc. as a catalyst and toluene, etc. as a refluxing solvent, and reacted by heating at 140-220 deg.C under thorough agitation. After the completion of the reaction, the catalyst is removed by filtration, and the filtrate is decolorized with activated clay, etc. and deodorized by blasting steam at 150-220 deg.C under reduced pressure to obtain esterified product. Cosmetics such as cold cream, etc. can be prepared by mixing the ester with liquid praffin, white vaseline, beeswax, water, perfume, etc. |
