PURPOSE:To provide stable, easily producible, low-dispersion fluorophosphate glass not containing Be and As, by using a composition containing PF5, CaF2, SrF2 or BaF2, SiF4, and, as anions, fluorine ions and oxygen ions. CONSTITUTION:The object optical glass contains as anions fluorine ion, F<->, and oxygen ion, O<2->, and has a composition, based on cations in the glass as fluorides, in the mol% range of: PF5: 5-21, AlF3: 17-40, CaF2: 13-40, SrF2: 0-23, BaF2: 0-25, SrF2+BaF2: 8-33, SiF4: 0.05-5, R<1>F (R<1>F is LiF, NaF, or KF): 0-14, MgF2: 0-22, ZnF2: 0-7, YF3: 0-7, and LaF3: 0-7. Further specifications include: F<->/O<2-> in the glass ranges from 2.6 to 15 and optical constant, nd=1.43- 1.48, and nud=85-97.
