PURPOSE:To prevent a roll from curving on the whole and to improve the life of the roll by covering the external circumference of the roll shaft with plural split sleeves which have corrugated or slanting adjacent sides, and fixing one end while stopping the other end sleeve. CONSTITUTION:The external circumference of a roll shaft 1 is covered with corrugated or slanting split sleeves 2, 2..., a member 3 for split-sleeve stopping is projected at one end part of the shaft 1, and the other end sleeve 2 is soldered to the shaft 1. The remaining sleeves 2 are freely slidable in the axial direction of the shaft 1 within the range of gaps provided between adjacent sleeves 2. When this roll is used to convey hot metals, the sleevs 2, 2... convey metallic piece without rotating around the shaft 1. Further, they slide in the lengthwise direction of the shaft freely by the gap, so the roll never curves on the whole. In addition, the life of the shaft is prolonged and the degree of the damaging of materials to be conveyed is reduced. |
