<p>PURPOSE:To display the type of a cassette with automatic discrimination, by calculating the sum of square of each period through the use of rotating periods T1 and T2 of a supply and winding reel for a tape and comparing the sum with a constant depending on the tape type. CONSTITUTION:Rotating periods T1 and T2 of each reel are calculated by providing an output of rotation detectors 21 and 22 outputting a detected pulse in response to the state of rotation of rotation members 23 and 24 interlocked with each reel respectively to an input and output section 25C of a microcomputer 25. The microcomputer 25 computes the calculation of T1<2>+T2<2> from the rotation periods T1 and T2 and the result is temporarily stored in a work memory 25f. Further, the result of computation is compared with each data in a data storage memory 25e where constants are stored depending on the type of tapes in advance, and the type of tape or number with the closest constant is displayed on a display 26.</p> |
