The agricultural machine has a harvesting or treatment head (1) suspended from a wheeled chassis. The head is free to rotate about a vertical axis (17). The chassis has a horizontal beam (5) which is positioned perpendicular to the wheel axles and is fixed to a transverse beam (2) from which the operating head is suspended. The longitudinal axis (XX') of the chassis can be orientated relative to the lines of plants by an hydraulic jack (8). A position detector detects the angle between the axis of the chassis and the longitudinal axes (44') of the operating head.
