The heat exchanger or steam generator has a long central tube (1) with a primary inlet (2) formed by a tube of larger diameter around one end and an outlet (3) formed in the same way at the other end. The secondary circuit of the exchanger consists of a tube rest (4) housed within the tubular shell. The ends of the tube nest terminate in a tube plate (5,6) of the secondary inlet and outlet headers and the secondary inlet headers are fabricated from thin-walled convolutions (10) (13,14) and provide for a differential movement between the two circuits due to their different rates of thermal expansion.
