A thermoplastic shroud (5) encases the magnetic core and constitutes a coil former for the transformer primary. The shroud moulding includes radial arms (150), at the ends of which are cylindrical housings (160) with a central bore (161). The terminal pins (17) are forcibly inserted into the bores. Wings (271) made of an insulating material projects from the underside of the radial arms close to the transformer shroud. The inner edges (271) of the wings is inclined away from the transformer coil in the downward direction and have a rounded profile. The winding wires (280,281) pass around the edge of the wings which allow them to be directed in an automatic cabling machine to the appropriate winding section in the transformer coil without damaging them.
