The open fireplace has a draught damper located in the entrance to the chimney and operated by a heat sensitive cylinder through chains or links. The actuator consists of an inner and outer cylinder (9,8) with a coil spring (17) interposed between them and tending to close them. Several heat-sensitive capsules (18) are located, in series within the inner cylinder and dilate with the heat, against the force of the spring. The amount of movement imposed by the actuator is regulated by the capsules utilised.
