PURPOSE:To remove the slag at the leading and trailing ends of an ingot easily and surely by the movement in one direction alone by locating the slag at the cut surface of the ingot to face upward, placing a blade thereon, rotating and moving the blade and scrapping off the slag. CONSTITUTION:Slag N is stuck and left on the bottom end on the cut surface of a continuously cast ingot S, and the ingot S is rotated with a manipulator or the like so that the slag N is located up. A blade 1 of a length longer than the width of the ingot is pressed onto the ingot roughly in parallel with the slag N, and the blade 1 is rotated and moved to scrape off the slag N on a roller table T. The slag N is cut away gradually from one end to the other. When the slag N at the leading end is cut away, the ingot S is moved in the advance direction and the slag at the trailing end of the ingot is removed. |
