The neck of a colour CRT for a TV receiver contains a strap (4) attached to the electrode system. Its free end (6) carries the getter support (7) which consists of a strip (10) carrying the getter material (11). This free end is formed by a curved tip with its convex surface resting on the surface of the sloping part of the conical region of the glass envelope (1). At the zone of contact of the curved tip, the inside surface of the envelope is free of the black electrically conductive coating (2) on the glass. The edges (9) of the coating slope downwards towards the uncoated zone to prevent it from peeling away.PS.
