摘要 In order to produce very deep weld seams or to weld very thick-walled workpieces (14) to one another and to be able to carry out these welds in as narrow a gap as possible, the electrode (5), which consists of a blank wire or blank strip, is guided through a kinked conduit (4) with as small an outer diameter as possible, the conduit (4) being provided on the inside with an insulating tube (9) and having in the area of the kink a contact device which is designed as a nozzle (10) and which transmits the current from the current-conveying conduit (4) to the electrode (5). The conduit (4) can be rotated about its longitudinal axis with the aid of a drive mechanism (7), so that the electrode (5) can draw the corresponding weld seams into the area of the right-hand and left-hand narrow-gap seam flank. In order to prevent a current-conveying connection between the conduit (4) and the workpiece (14), the nozzle (10) serving for the current transfer has an insulating tube (13). For adaptation to the different gap depths, the conduit (4) can be provided with an extension piece (4''). <IMAGE>
