A rotary valve, especially for internal combustion engines with concentric ducts which form inlet and exhaust manifolds and by way of openings in the duct walls can be synchronously connected to openings on cylinder heads as a function of the respective rotational position of the valve. An intermittently acting seal is provided between the cylinder head and the rotating valve part for the increased pressure whilst high pressure prevails in the combustion space of the cylinder together with cooling devices for the pressure medium acting on the entire valve mechanism. The flows through the concentric manifolds permit preheating of the newly entering gas mixture. |
