Sealing device

The invention proposes a sealing device between a cylinder, which can be moved axially or in rotation, and a wall which separates two gas- or liquid-filled spaces at different pressures (e.g. the interior of a reactor and a hydraulic device). The sealing device prevents mixing of the two media. This is achieved by the formation, between the sealing ring adjacent to the first space, the medium in which is subject to relatively small pressure fluctuations, and the second sealing ring, of a first annular space connected to a pressure line and the formation, between the second and the third sealing ring, of a second annular space connected to a vacuum or negative pressure line.
