The invention relates to a water bed with a bed frame, heating mat and water mattress, in which the heating mat can be controlled via a control device. So that this control device always assumes a defined position, cannot be damaged but nevertheless is easily accessible and can be operated by a person lying on the water mattress, it is provided according to the invention for the components of the control device to be accommodated in a box-like housing, the operating members being accessible and operable in a long narrow side of the housing. It is furthermore provided for the platform, the side cheeks and the head part to end in narrow end faces, for a receiving means for the housing of the control device to be built into one of these end faces, in the head region of the bed frame, and for the housing of the control device to be inserted into the receiving means and fixed therein in such a manner that the long narrow side of the housing, together with the operating members, fits in a somewhat positively locking manner with the end face of the platform, of the side cheek and of the head part.
