In an overcurrent fast-action disconnecter for direct current, especially (pulsed) power supply apparatuses for supplying control, regulation and digital electronics installations, computers and their peripherals or the like, a Hall-IC which triggers the disconnection is arranged in the air gap between the poles of a pretensioning magnet which produces a constant field with respect to the Hall-IC and is coupled to the opposing magnetic field of the load coil, which magnetic field is caused by the direct current to be monitored. The poles of the constant pretensioning magnet may be permanent-magnet platelets or magnets which are in the form of rods (bars) and consist of medium-hard magnetic material whose magnetisation can be reversed.
