发明名称 LITHIUM BATTERY
摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a lithium battery which contains small amount of PbI(OH), the discharge characteristic of which doesn't deteriorate when added with an electron conducting matter, and in which all PbI2 can be utilized effectively. CONSTITUTION:After a commercially avaiable PbI2 powder or lump is charged into a case such as a quartz ampoule, the amouple is vacuumed. Next, the whole ampoule is heated to above the melting point (402 deg.C) of PbI2 so as to melt the PbI2 contained in the ampoule. Since PbI(OH) existing as an impurity is thermally decomposed and disappears, the purity of the PbI2 obtained after the above heating is notably high. In making a positive electrode, thus obtained PbI2 is either used as it is, or used after being mixed with a much more highly pure Pb powder in order to further increase the conductivity of the positive electrode. In constituting a lithium battery by use of such a positive electrode, a negative active material may be any matter which can supply lithium ions; usually, a thin plate or powder of lithium metal is preferably used. Consequently, it has been affirmed that the discharge characteristic of the battery is remarkably enhanced by using a positive electrode containing PbI2 contaminated with only a small amount of PbI(OH).
