PURPOSE:To eliminate the risk of hitting of a work rest with a work, by positioning the point of the work rest from the place where it follows the feeding of a grinding head before a point where the work becomes in contact with a shoe, and making the shoe feeding rate of the work rest faster than the cutting rate of the grinding head. CONSTITUTION:A pressurized fluid is fed to a back chamber 7b of a cylinder 7 so that the grinding head 4 is quickly fed to be positioned by a dead stop 9, and the work W is roughly ground by a servo motor 11. At this position after completion of the grinding, the feeding of the grinding head 4 is temporarily stopped, and a pressurized fluid is fed to a back chamber 26b of a cylinder 26 so that the work rest body 19 is quickly fed, and it is stopped before the shoe becomes in contact with the work W. When the grinding head 4 is fed by the servo motor 11 to perform rough cutting, a synchro transmitter 15 is rotated through a clutch 16, which is transmitted to a synchro receiver 24, and by the rotation thereof, rest shafts 20, 22 are moved toward the work by gear and screw means at a rate little faster than the grinding head 4. |
