Process for the preparation of bromohydrins by reaction of a polyol of the formula see diagramm : EP0068282,P6,F2 R = CH2 OH, CH3 or C2 H5 with HBr in the presence of organic acids, characterised in that a catalytic amount of a low molecular weight organic acid and an aqueous HBr solution are employed, water being removed by distillation during the reaction. |
