PURPOSE:To obtain a silver oxide secondary battery with an excellent capacity recovery performance even if after overdischarge, by disposing a metal porous body whose circumferential edge is in contact with the inner surface of a negative electrode can on the side of an electrolyte-absorbing body for negative electrode material. CONSTITUTION:When a battery is forced to discharge under the overdischarge condition, zinc is changed into zinc oxide and the electrolyte of a negative electrode side comes short, but a metal porous body 9 whose circumferential edge 9a is in contact with a negative electrode can 6 on the side of the electrolyte- absorbing body 5 is disposed so that this battery can be supplied with the electrolyte from the electrolyte-absorbing body 5 and the conductivity is given to the nearby zinc oxide, therefore, the discharge reaction is carried out rapidley and the electric capacity is recovered. The metal porous body 9 is particularly preferred to be a metal screen and also its material is desirable to be an amalgamative metal with mercury such as gold, silver, copper, lead or the like. |
