PURPOSE:To prevent generation of an internal short circuit coming from the decomposition of argentic silver oxide by using zinc powder, whose surface is an alloy of silver, mercury and zinc, for a cathode agent. CONSTITUTION:When a cathode agent 5 consisting of a mixture of zinc powder, whose surface is an alloy of silver, mercury and zinc and a gelling agent such as sodium polyacrylate is used, silver acts catalytically to increases reaction speed of zinc and the oxygen, and said oxygen generated on the anode side 1 owing to the decomposition of argentic oxide reacts more to zinc on the cathode side than to cellophane composing a separator 3 so that the consumption of cellophane is so much reduced, decreasing the drop of acquisition effect of silver ions by cellophane and checking the migration of silver ions to the cathode side thus to prevent generation of an internal short circuit. |
