PURPOSE:To steer clear of stoppage of the system as a whole when one pump comes to a stop, by setting up a shiftable bulkhead in an actuator inside, while making two pumps operate these sectioned actuators separately. CONSTITUTION:Four actuators 4C-4F attached to a tiller arm 2 are sectioned by a free floating piston P. Pumps 5a and 5b driven by motors 18a and 18b operate each actuator through respective hydraulic circuits and control the helm. Since two hydraulic circuits are connected each to the oil chambers of four actuators, when one pump fails to operate, the whole system is no longer stopped; reliability is thus much improved.
