PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of desulfurization and to enhance the efficiency of desulfurization by adding a prescribed percentage each of soda ash, fluorite, a carbonaceous substance and quick lime. CONSTITUTION:This desulfurizing agent for molten iron consists of, by weight, 5-15% soda ash, 1-10% fluorite, 1-15% carbonaceous substance and the balance quick lime with inevitable impurities. By properly adding soda ash and fluorite, the m.p. of blast furnace slag or calcium silicate is dropped, and the desfurizing power of quick lime is enhanced. |
