PURPOSE:To provide molds for casting which permit easy removing of the fins of casting by the constitution wherein the fins of castings are put in the channels provided on the surfaces to serve as mating surfaces in the periphery of the cavities to form products. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal, that is, a melt, is charged through a charing port 9, and is filled in a cavities 7 and flow off sprues 10 where it is solidified. The casting obtained by this is formed with fins in the periphery of the cavities 7 to be products and these fins are filled in the channels 11 provided on the mating surfaces 8 of a top part 1 and a bottom part 2. It the casting parts corresponding to the channels 11 are tapped, stresses are concentrated in the spacings S between these parts and the casting parts corresponding to the cavities 7, that is, the products, whereby the casting parts corresponding to the channels 11 can be easily removed from the products. As a result the fins attached to the product parts are min. and are approximately equal in height. The subsequent fettling is not necessary or just slight finsishing is required. |
