The street lamp is intended for remote sites, and has an array of photovoltaic cells which convert solar energy to electric energy to charge an accumulator bank during the day. The stored energy is then used to power the lamp during the night. The photovoltaic cells are mounted on an inVerted 'V' pofile support placed over the street lamp, while the accumulators and control units are mounted lower down. The charging of the accumulators is regulated by an electronic circuit, and the operation of the street lamp is automatically controlled by a programmable timer and/or a photo-electric cell activated switch. A protective fuse is incorporated to avoid overcurrent damage. |
