Paint brushes and spray guns are cleaned in a solvent, over a cheaper settling liquid, e.g. water. They are supported on a grid in the solvent layer, and sediment is run off via a large tap. Dirty solvent is drawn off above the grid, and passed over into a linered vessel, suspended in an inversion heated oil-bath. The solvent is evaporated, leaving heavy fractions and sediment to build up in the container, from which they are removed together with the liner. The evaporated solvent rises into a condensing zone, and drops into a gulley from which it is run off, and recirculated. Recovery of cleansing solvents reduces costs and pollution. The installation described facilitates handling residues, which in other evaporation procedures tend to build up into a hard crust.
|
