The closing actuator for a door or window incorporates a force limiter between the motor (43) and the drive train (40) which disengages the motor when the doors encounter an obstacle. The force limiter comprises a sleeve (46) slidably mounted on the output shaft (42) of the motor which drives a cog (45) via ball-bearings. When an obstacle is encountered by the doors, the cog stops rotating, immobilising the ball-bearings which, as the output shaft continues to rotate, causes the sleeve to move against a spring (55) and disengage from the ball-bearings.
