Continuous centrifugal separator - employs combined cylindrical-double conical bowl with reversible scroll

Continuous centrifuge employs a bowl having cylindrical as well as conical sections. The conical section is fitted with a replaceable section at the discharge end to give a double-conical configuration. A scroll, driven at low speed in either direction with respect to the bowl is used to effect discharge of the heavy phase from either end of the machine. A sleeved scroll section at the conical end suits the increased angle of the double-conical section. A disc at the end of the scroll enables the heavy phase to be discharged through what would conventionally be the light phase discharge ports. The length of the cylindrical section and the double-conical design enables the machine to operate with very low density differentials e.g. for concentration or separation of biological sludges.
