PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of a metal film magnetic recording medium having improved signal missing characteristic and traveling characteristic, by forming a ferromagnetic metal film or an alloy film onto a non-magnetic substrate then buffing the surface with nonwoven fabric. CONSTITUTION:Nonmagnetic flexible supporting member includes polyester such as cellulose acetate or cellulose nitrate and a plastic supporting member made of polyamid is preferably employed. An underlying layer may be provided on the supporting member in order to improve the contact rightness or the magnetic characteristic of a ferromagnetic metal film of an alloy film. The ferromagnetic metal film is formed by electrically galvanizing ferromagnetic alloy of iron, cobalt, nickel, etc. Then the metal film magnetic recording medium is moved relatively with the surface thereof contacting with a nonwoven fabric so as to smooth the surface thus improving the signal missing characteristic such as dropout or error rate and the traveling performance. |
