PURPOSE:To prepare coenzyme Q10, by cultivating a microorganism belonging to the genus Aureobasidium using easily obtainable waste water containing phenols as a medium. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism such a Aureobasidium sp. 14(FERM-P 5912) belonging to the genus Aureobasidium, capable of producing coenzyme Q10, is inoculated into a medium comprising waste water containing phenols obtained from the process for preparing a phenol resin, which is preferably treated with calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide, as a main carbon source, preferably 1,000-4,000mug/ml, especially 1,500-3,500mug/ml and/or 0.5-4.0wt%, especially 1.0-3.0wt% ethanol, cultivated in a pH of 2-8 at 20-37 deg.C under aerobic conditions for 70-170hr, and coenyne Q10 is collected from the culture mold. |
