A video tape cassette eliminates a loading pocket part positioned around the front cover to make it compact. It has arm means (31,31') for extracting the tape to the outside only in case of need. The length of the tape between reels at the first position, at which the tape is placed inside the cassette, is the same as the length of the tape between reels at the second position, at which the tape is drawn out outside of the cassette, so that the tension of the tape remains unchaged when it is pulled out.
