<p>A gas is passed along a passageway containing a constriction and in an example, an aperture is positioned in the passageway wall at a point where a low pressure region arises due to the constriction. The workpiece is located adjacent to the aperture during cutting. For example gas is passed through a venturi 21 which has an aperture 13.
