SURFACE TREATMENT OF WELDING WIRE

PURPOSE:To stick bar-like or lumped solid lubricating agents uniformly on the surface of a welding wire and to improve the feeding property and rust resistance of the wire by passing the wire through the vessel packed with many lubricating materials. CONSTITUTION:Many bar-like or lumped solid lubricating materials 5 obtd. by adding a solidifying agent to a mixture wherein powdery graphite and molybdenum bisulfide are compounded respectively at desired amts. and if necessary a fluororesin is compounded, and drying the mixture after mixing and molding these are packed in a vessel 2. A welding wire 4 is passed through the inside of the vessel 2 and the taking up is started at prescribed speeds. Then, the contact points between the surface of the wire 4 and the materials 5 are numerous and the lubricating materials are stuck uniformly over the entire circumference of the wire by frictional heat.
