PURPOSE:To obtain ingots of defect-free and uniform structure in a horizontal continuous casting device by providing water-cooled jacket benders thereby decreasing the air gaps generated between the contact surfaces of molds and water cooling jackets. CONSTITUTION:Water-cooled jacket bending cylinders 11 and 12 are mounted in the central parts of blocks 4 and 5 for mounting the water cooled jackets, along the drawing out direction of ingots. When distortion DELTAh is produced in molds 1, the pressures of the forces as much as for distorting water cooled jackets 2 and 3 by DELTAh are exerted upon the cylinders 11, 12, then the rods of the cylinders 11 and 12 press the central parts of the jackets 2 and 3, thereby reducing or eliminating the distortion DELTAh. Therefore, the uniform cooling in the width direction of inogts is made possible and the sound ingots free from defects are obtained. |
