PURPOSE:To prevent a steering support brace when the car has run into another car, etc. from pushing a column backward, by constructing the steering support brace such that it is buckled when a pressing load not less than a prescribed value is exerted to it. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcement member 12 is arranged in front of the steering column 9, extends in a direction of the width of the car below another reinforcement member 5, and is secured to left and right front pillars 3. A bracket 13 is fixed at the intermediate of the reinforcement member 12, and the steering support brace 16 is fixed to the upper end of the bracket 13. The brace 16 is constituted in such a manner that it can be buckled at bent sections 43, 44 when an impact load is exerted on it, and thereby the brace is prevented from pushing back the column 9. |
