The invention relates to a reagent for erythrocyte measurements, especially for erythrocyte counting. Its object is to ensure an adequate accuracy of erythrocyte measurements and a high long-term stability of the measurement apparatus and of the method with low costs for the apparatus and method. The object of the invention was to find a reagent which greatly reduces the absorbability of the erythrocytes without changing their shape. A propylene oxide/ethylene oxide copolymer was found as reagent. It has proved expedient for the ratio by weight of propylene oxide to ethylene oxide to be 6:4, the total molecular mass to be 3000 g per mole, and the concentration to be 5-50 mg of reagent per litre of diluted blood.
