For lighting rooms with daylight, direct insolation is undesirable owing to the glare and heating-up of the room which go hand in hand therewith; accordingly, roof windows have been oriented north and set at a slant. However, only midday insolation is avoided as a result. By means of the invention, it is intended that the sun be also fully blotted out during the morning and afternoon. For this purpose, a light shaft (2) with correspondingly dimensioned, parabolic side mirrors is arranged in the window opening (11). The inclination of the inlet opening (20) of the light shaft corresponds to the geographical width and the blotting-out angle ( epsilon ) of the obliquity of the ecliptic. <IMAGE>
