There is proposed a wheel-chair in which the axle of the gripping tyre is further from the plane of travel than the axle of the drive wheel, so that the driver does not soil his/her sleeves and grips the gripping tyre in a more favourable working position, and for this reason a transmission intended to transmit the rotary movement is located between the gripping tyre and the drive wheel.
