The electric resistance heating belt for the fuel filter of diesel fueled internal combustion engines is formed as a coil wound round the outside of the filter bowl. Alternatively, the coil round the filter bowl may be formed from hollow tube, and water from a heat exchanger circulated through it. The heat exchanger may be fixed to the engine block, to the engine radiator, to part of the cooling fluid piping, or to the exhaust pipes. The same techniques may be used for a heating belt wrapped round the fuel tank. The housing may incorporate filtering elements, obviating the need for the diesel-oil filter. |
