The trailer for the transportation of large cylindrical cable drums comprises a load platform (1) containing at least one trough having a flat base from which two inclined sides extend. The load platform is split into a fixed front part (7) and a movable rear part (8) which can pivot about an axis (10) w.r.t. the chassis (21) into a vertical position for loading and unloading. The front part (7) carries rollers (11) allowing the load to be moved into a transportable position from the pivoting rear part (8).
