<p>Sterilising chamber comprising a fan, pressure pipe and suction pipe. The operating cycle includes a gas filling phase, sterilising phase, at least one evacuation phase, at least one ventilation phase and an emptying phase. The sterilising gas is removed during the evacuation phase, from the circulation system, mixed with water and filtered air is, at the same time, supplied to the system. A system is provided for sterilising mattresses, laundry bags and similar goods using ethylene oxide, which during the evacuation phase reacts with water to form easily removable ethylene glycol.
