An electro-hydraulic actuating device (10) is proposed, for remote control of a directional control valve (17), which, with an asymmetric construction, operates according to a force comparison system and has a safety function in the event of failure of the proportional magnet (11). The servo slide valve (32), which counterbalances the force and controls the actuating element (15), has a second control collar (34), at a distance from a first control collar (33), which second control collar (34) is pushed to the point of the first control collar (33) in the event of current failure from a measuring spring (48), the servo slide valve (32) being pressed against a safety spring (51) which builds up a corresponding opposing force. The safety spring (51) is matched to a measuring spring (48) which couples the servo slide valve (32) to the actuating element (15), such that, in the event of current failure, the actuating element (15) is controlled into its mid-position, the control slide valve (16) locking the servo motor (19) hydraulically and preventing erroneous functions. <IMAGE>
