<p>New compsns. comprise (a) a liq. polydimethylsiloxane with a viscosity of at least 20 cS at 25 deg.C, (b) silica, (c) a polyoxypropylene with an av. molecular wt. of 1000-6000, (d) a nonionic surfactant, and (e) a dispersant. The compsn. pref. contains 0.4042-10.105 wt% of (a), 0.0215-0.5375 wt% of (b), 86.46-99.4584 wt% of (c), 0.035-0.875 wt% of (d) and 0.0746-1.865 wt% of (e). It may also contain 0.0063-0.1575 wt% of a siloxane resin having SiO2 and Me3Si01/2 units. The compsns. are useful as foam inhibitors in the mfr. of fuel-grade alcohol by fermentation of molasses or esp. by direct fermentation of sugar cane.</p> |
