<p>A portable mechanical plating device consists of a housing, at least one mechanical plating member movable relative to the housing and having a plating surface (e.g. a brush or absorbant surface) which can be moved relative to and urged against a workpiece surface, and a holding and guiding device for movement of the plating device by the operator. Plating is carried out by moving the device into an operative position with the plating surface urged against the workpiece, supplying a mixt. of mechanical plating promoter and plating metal particles to the plating surface, and moving the plating member relative to the housing and the workpiece surface. The device is portable and may be manually operated to produce top quality solid metallurgically integrated coatings to the desired depth in very short times.</p> |
